Why is this type of fund necessary?

K9 "Elvis" in a leg splint

Currently, police departments in the valley are unable to provide financial assistance for medical care to the owner/handlers after their service dogs have retired.   In addition, there are limits to the expenses that departments are able to incur during the dogs’ service lives.  Often times dogs are retired from service, and sometimes euthanized, due to financial constraints of the police department and/or handler.

We want to give those dogs a chance to receive the care and dignity that they have “earned”.  These dogs love what they do and provide an invaluable service to the community.

Who do we help?

  • Retired K9 police dogs
  • Active duty K9 police dogs
  • Police department contracted service dogs (bomb dogs, search dogs, drug dogs, etc…)
